This is one AMAZING roof top tent!!! - Teds - TEDPoP Roof Top Tent
In this video I take a deep dive into the awesome Teds - TEDPoP rooftop tent. There are plenty of roof top tents on the market to choose from but not many that can quickly open up into a king size bed while still taking up a relatively small footprint on the vehicle AND while keeping the weight relatively low. This tent seeks to break the mold and change the game of what is possible with a roof top tent.

      I hear ya, but not all RTT are created equal! I'm not sure how many king size rtt's you'll find at this price point. Not saying it's cheap, but most at this size are going to either be very expensive or cheaper but very heavy and cumbersome. In my opinion, this one is priced pretty competitively given what it offers. I do, however, think for the price they are selling it, it should come with some other stuff like a better mounting bracket or lighting/pockets, etc. It feels like they put all the engineering into the tent itself, which is important and valuable, but the smaller stuff could use some extra love

      I had this on the FJ prior to this truck and did not need any extension. I cannot remember if I was able to open the door with a bike on it or not. In the down position I mean. Also, it will work with 1 bike rack on it but if you add to and tilt all the way up it will not clear. You'll have to have it tilted at the 45% angle to clear

    • @GetBusyLivin

      The kuat piston pro x is a pretty cool piece of engineering and the one handed opening feature is very nice, but my concern would be dust and grime eventually getting into the pistons causing failure. That’s a very expensive rack to have fail. This rack is no bs and just works…all the time. Simple and robust I got the quick rack with adapter

    Great video! I just put a Smart Cap EVOa on my 3rd gen Tacoma. The current production versions have a redesigned latch that is supposed to not allow water in to freeze, plus they can be opened from the inside. I believe the latches will be available separately soon-ish. It took them 3 years to develop after the initial reports of latches freezing. I know RSI made a few other changes over the years as mine has the port for the bed light and a different mounting system from the earlier models. So far my only complaints are that the locks turn anti-clockwise to lock, not sure if that is a South African thing, and that being black powder coated the inside is very dark. I am curious about how you have your traction boards mounted. Looks like a convenient location. If you could make a short about that I would appreciate it.

    I got the EVOa adventure on my 2021 Ranger Tremor. Didn't need the windows and preferred the added security. I've had it since October 2023. Mine came with the rubber latch covers in the box. I added them right before winter here in VA. They were super easy to add on after you do one. Never had any issues opening up the cap during freezing weather. I added some rubber protection to help them last against the sunrays. A con is it does add another step on opening the cap. But I lock mine anyways so it's not that big of a deal. It does hide the latches so less likely someone might test to see if they're unlocked. Oh, on the cap brake light wiring. From SmartCap they had the wiring harness going towards the driver's side. I had to actually feed it to the passenger side down underneath the truck. Not sure it's because I have the tow package. But definitely take a look underneath before running the cable. Ask me how I know. 😂 I believe there's plenty of slack you can test before running it.

    Nicely done video, very thorough. Do you know the distance from the back of your tail gate to the bike as I have a full size rear spare tire mount?

    • @GetBusyLivin
      @GetBusyLivin 3 месяца назад

      Hey Steve, that distance varies by about 6 inches as the male end has a slot to allow it to move closer and further from the vehicle. I just measured and at it's closest the frame of the bike is 10inches at the forks. It's about 6 inches at the pedals. and 4 inches at the handlebars. Ideally the pedals could be moved out of the way and the handlebars should be above the tire but you'd have to test that out. Again, you have 6 inches to play with so should be some wiggle room to get to about 16 inches for the frame

Have you used any of their additional lock sets (either the 1/4 turn wheel lock or the add-on lock to secure the add-on extension)? Both seem like nice features but at $25 each I’m not sure if it’s worth it. How do you secure your bike to the rack when on a road trip? Just wondering what your thoughts are given your experience with this rack. Thanks!

    Is it legal in your country to hide the number plate with cargo? in EU it would be illegal and you would have to mount another plate on that cargo rack.
